The Book: Unprecedented Crime (2018)
Co-authored with Elizabeth Woodworth, Unprecedented Crime: Climate Science Denial and Game Over for the Climate was published by Clarity Press in 2018.
The book documents the role of fossil fuel companies, media, and government in suppressing climate science and blocking action. It argues that the coordinated denial and delay of climate action in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence constitutes an unprecedented crime against humanity and the natural world.

IPCC Expert Reviewer
As an Expert Reviewer for IPCC AR5 Working Groups I and II, and AR6, Dr. Carter reviewed draft chapters on physical science basis and impacts. Expert Reviewers are climate scientists and technical experts who provide detailed scientific review of IPCC report chapters during the drafting process.
His reviews focused particularly on the treatment of climate risks, the presentation of worst-case scenarios, and the communication of uncertainty ranges.
